This site seems to be more focused on adult games, at least the main page suggest that to me, but I guess thats not a problem.
This thread will be for everything related to the translation of the Space Pilgrim Series into GERMAN, especially for feedback and discussion of certain points within the games, so DO NOT scroll down or continue reading below the download links (as soon as they availble) when you don't want to get spoiled, wrapping everything with spoiler will get very messy and complicated. The intro is almost done, but there are issues with the translation software (Translator++) that need to be sorted out first. And because it will take time to get some native germans interested in this topic, i'll start discussion now, to hopefully get some help for SPA: Year 2 & 3 because I encountered some really complicated points in the game.

I'm new in forum and the rules say "english only" which makes everything a bit more complicated, if a admin or moderator could ansewer those question or someone knows an active admin/moderator that could answer those questions in a PM, I would be very thankfull:
1. In SPA: Year 3 a fictional english dialect is introduced, this will be one of our major discussion points, deceiphering and transporting it into german, that way there will be 4 different languages in one post.
2. For some folks it may be easier to explain certain points of the game in german, especially grammer related stuff, will they be allowed to post in german (the thread is tagged [DE] just in case). Also there will be unavoidable quotation of ingame strings.
How will this be handled?

ATTENTION SPOILERS AHEAD! STOP READING NOW!

Are you sure you want to continue?

If yes you're welcome to enter the discussion. Our first major topics, because they will certainly eat A LOT of time are:

1. How will we handle "Rimsprache"?
As you know Rimsprache is a dialect of the miners and translating/recreating a dialect, is one of the hardest parts. Problematic is, that there are only a few words like pronouns and some code words (really wish I could do this in german, hope everyone gets the point)
Should I create a table with all the words that are affected, or do you rather like to work on the words in a sentence to sentence basis, because I didn't see a system other than it goes fluently with the english words, like a language should do, so just taking the english words won't work.

2. What language should Professor Brandt speak?
There are multiple options:
- The boring option: He'll just speaks a dialect like Swiss-German
- The sensible option: He speaks french, I did a bit of research, and the most common place with the surname BRANDT according to geneanet is Vendenheim, France which is an alsatian city near the german border. It will also be easier to find a proof reader for this game part.
- The complicated option: This german surname can also be found in other countries listed here, and use the native language:

A few countries have to be crossed out tho:
Belgium speaks french
Swiss is already part of the first point
Russian is already taken by Sergey Antov

3. Translating the names that are hard to pronounce like star systems
When you played till the end of SPA: Year 3 there is one star system that hit my tunge pretty hard. Upsilon Andromedae how do you say this word in english? Upsilon is Ypsilon in german, and when you check the greek alphabet on the german wikipedia page, it does indeed say Ypsilon. How to handle those?

---

Sheets will be available after the translation of a game is finished for comments, proof reading and additional discussion on a sentence to sentence basis. I don't want to scroll through pages of "I found a mistake in chapter x scene y while Gail is talking to Sabina about z". This thread is for support, sharing ideas and gameplay captures (YouTube etc.), as well as q&a for translation related questions.

Wow still no replies after 10 months, good thing I wasn't motivated as well, but now, that Translator++ is working really well after revisiting the project, I'll continue working on the translation. So stay tuned...

It's also always a good back-up for information when returning to a project after several years. A "normal" Forum could already be out of existence, while sex sells :BootyTime:
