VN Ren'Py Abandoned Buttons [v0.006]: A crowdsourced VN

I've had a few questions about the use of the buttons and they're circling around the same issues about choice. I realised I've caused this when pushing through a scene in the first release. I wanted to show the buttons in action, but didn't give the choice not to touch the nurse.

So there are choices and I've produced this FAQ and hope it clears a few things up.
I've placed them in spoiler tags for those who want to play the VN cold. And as things are liable to change (due to polling or other factors), I'll update this if they do.

dang, I've seen this thread before but didnt connect the dots that it was inkalicous. If the Redburns is anything to go by, this will turn out well (well unless it gets ruined by the poll results lol).

I can understand people might have PTSD from NTR but netori in the context of the buttons gimmick? That would have been amazing :/
And mindbreak...!? Come on why have this power if you dont mindbreak some chicks XD. Its like people want to play a game with superpowers and go for the most vanilla romance possible or something lol.

The next poll is here. Choose the kinks of your family.
This is a blind poll, which means the results will not be known until they appear in the story.

Each character has five options, choose two kinks for each family member.
Two kinks per family member only. Any other number and I'm afraid your vote will have to be discounted (to keep the results fair).

The original list had 17 items, which were then jumbled by an online random generator. The first five then became that characters possible kinks.
The list include ones you've previously chosen, some that fared well in that poll (but didn't quite make the cut) and some that may not be kinks in themselves (or tame ones).
Two that may need clarifying are 'cuckquean' and 'bisexual'.

• Cuckquean is a woman getting off on her man being with another woman (I had to google it and thanks to GhostPhil for the suggestion)
• Bisexual, well you know what that is. The reason it's there is that, if chosen, the character will be actively bisexual. Hey, of course it's a porn game, the girls will likely end up with other girls, but this will shape that characters decisions and story

Yeah. Sorry. The urge was strong to keep refreshing till a list was 'better', but I was stronger.

...That's not to say that characters can't develop new interests as the story evolves.

If I could choose any archetype it would be strong willed, strict mother with hidden submissive tendencies, successful competent older sis with submissive tendencies, cute younger sis that can turns into obedient pet, femme fatale aunt who turns into obedient pet, outgoing popular cousin who turns into obedient pet. Ooops.. I think I just want to enslave all the girls.

Hi all, thanks for all the votes on the latest poll. It's great to see a larger participation.

Unfortunately this is tempered with the news that I've had to discount over 30% of the votes. It has to be two choices per family character. Any less, or more, and it'll skew the results.

On the votes so far, a couple of characters are heading for a landslide on their kinks, others could swing any way.

In this case you should switch the poll site to a site, where you can set up rules for your poll (e.g. you must select two options before you can continue with the next character.)

Another thing... how do you know, that people did not vote twice or multiple times?

I tried a few ones before settling on google docs for various reasons. It's not the most comprehensive, but does the job.
I'm also very very explicit about any rules, and they usually work fine. However there seems to be two issues here.

There are the click crazy votes. Just clicking on all the choices that float their boat. Love that you're enthusiastic, but nah.
The second, and reason for the reminder, are those choosing 2 options for most. Then only 1 or 3+ for a character. Again, great enthusiasm, but it seems they did understand and choose to do it anyway. Unfortunatly playing it straight a little bit isn't going to work for the final numbers.

I understand what you're saying, but we're all adults and people can read. Most are almost certainly choosing to game the system. But I'm not seeing any voting patterns and, at the end of the day, it shouldn't need functionality to stop people wasting their time. It's their time.

There were a few outright winners for certain characters and only one tied vote. That was decided with the flip of a virtual coin.
I'll begin writing the family's story now, with some of your votes included.

I think the next vote will be for additional characters, and their kinks. Though that's a long way off for now. Meanwhile thanks again to those who participated and I'll post updates when they're available.

How about to randomize the kinks for additional characters? Just to make sure that people will not vote for the same kinks every time.

I'm not sure if this is possible as poll, but this is my idea: Use a six-sided virtual die and assign each number a kink. Every poll-participant will roll the die for each character; and the must frequent number-kink-combination will be chosen for the character. You also can hide the number-kink-combination or make them visible, it's up to you.

It's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure how practical it is. And while it has voter participation, they're relying on luck on whether their favourite kink is chosen.
I think with the next kink poll, I won't include all of the kinks that have been included already. This way we should see a good spread, though probably not with the characters you'd like.
