When "Riverside " came out the first thing I thought about was these type comics. As a kid I fatansized what it would take for Reggie and the gang to dick down Veronica.

BWAAHAHAHA! I remember this shit! I can't remember where I first saw it, but I laughed my ass off at the /fit/ memes and then sent it to some of my black friends. They either thought it was stupid or hilarious, but it started a weird discussion about race-swapping, workout culture, and internet autism. Fun times.

I remember this. Did someone seriously edit this book just to make the main character white? That's kind of messed up.
Looks like a few people might've had a hand in it. /fit/anon is either one person or refers to more than one anonymous poster on /fit/. I think that /co/ stands for comic? ...nope, "Comics and Cartoons." And, of course, the original comic was drawn by "Rabies T. Lagomorph."

Not sure why you find it messed up. As far as I can tell this sort of thing (race-swapping) isn't that popular with 2D porn, but people reimagine characters in plays, books, and movies as different races fairly often. Done properly, it's basically anthropological or sociological fanfiction. Done...poorly, it's usually just racially motivated circlejerking. This is a "shit-edit," which usually refers to memes being (lazily or badly) edited to make them stupider, funnier, or more offensive.

I don't mean to soapbox, and this definitely isn't worth arguing over, but in comparison to some of the other stuff I've seen this is tame as hell.

Thanks for the insight. It struck me as an odd thing to do, repurposing someone else's art/entire comic to change races. I understand if someone makes a new parody of established characters to tell their story similarly to the fan art found on this site, but to use someone else's art and change the skin color and dialogue just felt insincere. But these days anything goes, so it doesn't really matter. I liked the original, the revision was sloppy and unnecessary but at least it reminded me of the existence of the original which I went and found to enjoy again. Anyway, thanks again for the insight, it was appreciated.

My pleasure. I can see why you'd find it disingenuous, but I had to learn the hard way that sometimes...a lot of the time...porn just isn't meant to be taken that seriously. Nice speaking with you, sandmansdust.

I don't get it. What's the joke? I don't remember too many black characters in Archie comics, it was a whitey-ass cracker mid-western cord-fed comic. No main characters were black iirc. Archie, Reggie, Jughead were all white, and this Elliot character seems to be new, Google ain't got nothin.

Are you guys in the right thread? I feel weird. Help.

Depends on whom you consider 'main' characters. There's of Josie & the Pussycats introduced in 1969, and along with his father Coach (Floyd/Harry) Clayton introduced in 1971.

Okay, well, of course-- but neither of those characters were whitewashed in this comic, as neither of those characters are in this Betty and Veronica parody that is the subject of this thread.

/still confused

Ahh, never mind. I found the source. Not sure how I feel about this, since the whitewashing makes it... ...less racist? Not confused any more, just conflicted. :/

It wouldn't be a problem if there weren't tons of forums full of white and asian dudes who create blacklists of pornstars who've worked with black men, or if the porn industry didn't relegate black pornstars to race-based sites. I think it's naive to suggest that editing a black character out of a genre that doesn't have many of them in the first place (blacks on blondes and black cucking comics do not remotely count) doesn't suggest some level of prejudice.

Something felt off as I was reading your post, so I'm going to try putting it in a syllogism:
Premise A. There are forums full of people who don't like interracial pornography (or black men specifically? Blacklisting means they filter them out of their searches, yes?)
Premise B. The porn industry relegates black pornstars (male and female?) to race-based sites
Conclusion C. Editing a black character out of a mostly-white genre (2d porn comics, or whatever this is a parody of?) implies prejudice
Ah, there's the problem--Premise B doesn't seem relevant. Or all that true; almost all of the sites I've used for porn for the last year have had tags for the races involved (along with everything else, like whether or not someone's tits were fake), but they've included basically all the content on the same site. It's not like I had to type in a completely separate URL, unless I was mistaking your meaning.
Beyond that, I'm not saying that the anon or anons who edited this aren't prejudiced. I don't know. And I don't care. Because my experience on the internet, and with 2D pornography, has been that shit like this doesn't matter. If you're just pointing out what you believe to be true, or arguing that we can't rule out the possibility that the edit was racially motivated, I can shrug my shoulders and respect your opinion. Because this is porn, I'm here to jack off, and everyone has problems pretty much everywhere in the world that are bigger than the ratio of black-to-white MCs in cartoon comics for adults.
I'm not sure what you mean by Blacks on Blondes, unless you're referring to IllustratedInterracial, and holy shit am I glad that's not common, but I'm assuming there isn't more of it because there isn't a greater demand for it. You'd primarily expect black males to be interested in black MCs, right? Because everyone likes a protagonist they can relate to? If you check the demographics of the places and people who produce the majority of the work we see (because I sure as hell haven't) you might find them underrepresented there, in the same way that women aren't represented much in construction, mining, or industrial labor fields. I'm pretty sure the developers and artists who put together a plot, character cast, and a list of scenes are going to start with their own preferences and then accommodate the interests of their backers or audience where they're willing and able to. If there aren't a lot of black protagonists, I think it's more likely to be the result of consumer and producer demographics than deliberate, prejudiced exclusion.

If it hasn't been made completely clear yet, I got tired of hearing about how everything is about race a long time ago. The references and memes in this edit, as well as the fact that only the MC's race and dialogue (and backstory?) got changed leads me to believe this a thumb-in-cheek parody of a parody that made it about fitness and "alpha"ness instead of just race.

That could be the case for this particular work (that it's purely a tongue in cheek exercise), but I've been to plenty of porn forums (on chan sites, or download sites like planetsuzy, phun, vipergirls, etc.) where people explicitly say they don't like when pornstars work with black males, I've read interviews of black male pornstars saying that they could not get work apart from specifically race-based interracial or black-only stuff. And typically they do list the race or ethnicity of the female performer, yes, but for the male performer they don't tend to for White, Hispanic/Latino, or Asian males. Just because you don't want to talk to talk about an issue doesn't mean it isn't real or isn't actually an important issue. And yes, the reason for that distinction in porn is an active dislike among a significant proportion of their White and Asian customer base for black male performers: it's a result of both consumer demographic preferences and deliberate exclusion.

And while this piece could be a tongue-in-cheek parody, that doesn't mean there isn't an issue at-large or that there is no racial motivation behind the changing of this particular work. I'm not even an advocate of tokenism, or really care about being able to relate to characters, or any BS like that, but when there is something that actively promotes prejudice, overtly or implicitly, that's an issue.

Also by blacklisted, I mean refuse to watch/purchase any works by female pornstars who've worked with black male pornstars. Also pornsites exist largely as networks nowadays, which are comprised of formerly independent or loosely networked sites that are now centrally accessible on one major site (BRAZZERS, RK, BangBros, Mofos, Team Skeet, etc.) You can still access the sites that form those networks independently to some extent, and some of those sites have very few, if any, black male performers going back to their inception (most of these sites have been around in some form or another since 2002 or so).

I see that you're not really interested in this issue, and honestly I wanted to make a point in response your supposition that porn isn't meant to be taken seriously. Again, I'm not a PC police type of guy or anything--in fact, I hate the hyper political correctness that seems to exist so widely in the US and western Europe these days, but again people will try to hide prejudice in the guise of humor and bullshitting, but there's a difference and it's pretty obvious when you've experienced it firsthand.

Dang. I've gotten a little too used to the chans, so I'm always pleasantly surprised by substantive, well-thought-out rebuttals like this. From the top, then:

EDIT: Yeah, this got long. And still doesn't really matter. But since I've got that compulsive tick where I think some is being wrong on the internet and can't seem to help myself...well, it's there.

...and now I feel stupid for typing all that out. Pretty sure svscomics has the original, and e-hentai.org has it too.

Also, I still don't know how to shorten long posts under a "click to expand" option. It hasn't really been necessary so far, so I never looked into it. My bad.
EDIT: Think I figured it out.
