Since this game is going on steam, according to them, i wonder if it would be wise to not expect game versions being released on their patreon on a regular basis like what happens with Roundscape.

Thats great. the Only serious flaw in Roundscape was whenever the art would change from good to absolute crap. there was just no consistency
Pretty much. Game is good but when some of the scenes that I could have drawn myself pop up it makes me cringe.

Glad they opted to go with one artist (and a good one as it seems) for this as well as for Uprising,

A multiple-artist game could do great, if the artists are all at least reasonably good at what they're doing and the styles are similar enough that you can at least pretend they could all be in the same world. Look at the Monmusu Quest type games, where I think one of the draws was that you had extra weirdness because of the enormous art shifts. Of course, the whole idea there was that the world was filled with enough weird things that pretty much anything could fly. In fact, it was sorta nice--if you didn't care for one artist, you could wait around for the next monster from one you did like.

Also what is it with every non-text-based sci-fi game and absolutely zero fantasy games including furries? I'm not complaining too much, but it can't be THAT hard to shoehorn some in. Then again there're a lot of 2D sci-fi games running around right now and not so many 2D fantasy games. Maybe that's just it.

Great art, but seeing as it was made by the same dev as Roundscape is a huge disappointment. That game is a complete mess with all the different art styles and attempts to satisfy too many fetishes.
The devs have made enough that they changed over their style from Roundscape. All of their art for this one is being done by one team I believe, so whatever assets they have now should be the same quality and style from start to finish

They explicitly stated long ago that they're ditching the multiple-artist solution used in Roundscape. Gotta love all the peeps on this thread jumping to assumptions without a smidgen of homework or evidence to back it up...

Game has been in development for almost 2 years, I specifically remember them saying it was progressing in March 2017. How is it possible that a tech demo is all they have? What have they been doing this whole time?

No offense but is it really explicit if the site they announced it on hasn't been updated in 2 fucking years? I mean the top of the page where you find that info still claims it's coming in 2017. Not to mention you have to scroll down to the bottom of the homepage to even click the button leading to that outdated info.

Behold, the power of reading!

Hey folks!

Today is a special day, you'll be able to get your hands on Arenus for the first time.
But, please keep in mind, that this is a Tech Demo. It's purpose is to test aspects of the game, this is not a real demo.

This Tech Demo only contains 1% of the content/Assets we've created for Arenus.
The Tech Demo consists of three aspects:
  • A Battle Test
  • A Dialogue Test
  • A Perfomance Test
After you've completed the Tech Demo, please make sure to fill out the following survey to help us, making Arenus a better game.

Thank you for your help!

No offense but schedules have no relevance whatsoever for the comical knee-jerking of "ermahgerd the art is gonna be bad and inconsistent cuz it was so in one other game they made reeeeeee", which arbitrary assumption I'd remind you is also entirely unsupported by the screenshots on display...

Not a public post, so thanks for pasting it I guess. I'm still skeptical though, surely a tech demo is something you release 6 months into development? Especially if you're looking for feedback? Releasing 1% of the game, to me, seems pointless at best and a complete misrepresentation at worst.

The site and info pertaining to the game being outdated by years is hardly a scheduling problem and I'm amazed you were able to interpret it as such. The selection of screenshots doesn't mean much when you consider Roundscape has a completely cohesive art style outside of the sex scenes and only 2 of the 5 shown here are actually pornographic. Also yeah "arbitrary assumption" after Ass Effect and Roundscape both had mixed art..lmao alright dude whatever you say.

Would point out that the RSA screenies on the thread here are pretty up front about the art consistency thing which is conspicuously not on display here. But hey, why look at evidence when jumping to assumptions is so much easier?

And whatever timetable issues the devs may have is utterly irrelevant to this topic. Kindly drop that red herring already.

You could just look at the Patreon page and see it only list one lead artist for this game. I don't see this assumption that they will do multiple artist if their Patreon page says differently.

It's not supposed to represent anything, it's a public test of the game systems especially the performance, Kal is using a lot of plugins and add-ons. And as seem in RS, there's only so much closed testing can do.

Also, tech demos are usually not public either.

You're literally the only one making it an issue LOL. My entire point is that there is no up to date information for non-patrons. I made that point specifically because you were complaining about people not reading a page that hasn't been touched since 2016. I'm not complaining about the predicted dates on the page, I'm saying the dates indicate the developers definitely don't maintain the page so how would people know about it?

By checking the Steam page, that you can find by going to their Patreon. It's not hard, heck I'm not a Patreon supporter and still manage to be up to date.
