Hello!

I've been lurking F95 for the past year or so and I think its awesome to see a forum dedicated to sharing and making adult games :D

For the past 6 months a group of us have been dabbling in creating our own game. Currently we have three Grettas on our team:

Gretta: Technical Artist, Clothing Modeler, Lead
Gretta 2: Animator and Character/Creature Modeler
Gretta 3: Gameplay Designer and Programmer


The game we are working on is an arena 2v2 turn based RPG where you and one of your creatures will train and fight against other trainer-creature duos.
Outside of the arena battles you can explore a marketplace or your apartment, which handles a survival system.

As an overview:

The goal: To make a porn game that isn't sex 24/7. We want to try and make the gameplay fun and enjoyable with sex being the icing on the cake.

Arena:

The arena is where the main gameplay will happen:

- Fighting grunts and bosses
- Training your Creatures

The Marketplace (and apartment) is the hub of the game. While the gameplay mainly focuses on the arena battles, we want to add content around getting items and surviving.
The plan for the market is to handle:
- Clothing/armor purchasing
- Sex Toy purchasing
- Food
- Strip Poker
- Future Content

Apartment:

The apartment is in a very early block out phase. The current plan for the apartment is to handle:

- Sleep
- Rent
- Gambling(?)
- Storage
- Saving/Loading
- Masturbation/Sex

Gretta(Main Character):

At the moment we are hand modeling each character. This means no character customization. The only customization to Gretta will be:

- Tattoos(?)/Makeup
- Hair
- Clothes

While I like the idea of customizing the main character, its really something that's out of our development range, especially since there are so many clothing options and corrective blend shapes.


In terms of mechanics(sorry about the text monolith):


Fighting:

The battle system will be a pretty straight forward turn based battle system. One core difference is that you must either knock out the enemy or make them orgasm to win.
On your turn you can either:

1. Attack
2. Defense
3. Disable
4. Command

Attack will give you the option to hit a specific body section(Upper body or Lower body). The armor or clothing you wear will protect you from those hits. So an attack to the chest will be blocked by both the shirt and bra slot. Each hit will damage and then break those pieces of clothing before hitting the "skin" of the enemy.

Defense will be the opposite of Attack. Based on what armor you wear (sexy or heavy) you can predict which place the enemy will focus on and potentially use a "glass cannon" strategy.

Disable will be a grab of sorts. This is where the sex mechanics start to come in. Based on your current offense the enemy defense, you can grab an enemy as the player or creature and initiate a sex scene. The other may join in. The enemy creature could potentially join in as well (explained below). The sex scenes will respect the current clothing level. The less clothes, the more sexual it becomes.

Command will be almost another half of the battle system. Command is used to control anyone that isn't yourself, BUT in order to control them, you have to have some form of influence on them with either: strength, sexiness or training. A trained creature will always listen to your commands, but If you do not train your creature, the creature will just attack the most distracting player in the match. You can use this on an enemy by using a dominatrix build on weaker opponents.

When your clothes are destroyed in a fight, they are permanently gone. Enemies will generally give you clothes as a reward, but these will be damaged.
If your clothes take damage and are not fully destroyed, they will regain half of the lost damage from that fight.


Training:

The training system is a simple system. You train your creatures in order to make them listen to you and grow stronger. These training sequences will either be one of two things (I'm not sure yet):

1. Your creature will be trying to rape you in a quick time style animation and you have to defend long enough until the animation ends.
2. You will have a 1v1 with the creature using the above fighting system. Maybe you'll need dominatrix build for ideal training this way.
3. It could be a time skip with no gameplay.

Losing will decrease its training while winning while increase it.
A lack of training may lower how much the creature listens.


Survival:

The survival side of the game is mainly here from a story perspective and to give life to this world. The world takes place in a dystopian eastern bloc with some fantastical and futuristic elements (monsters and sci fi).

Gretta is fighting in the arena as her job. In doing that, she will have to eat food, pay rent and sleep. You will have to manage these survival stats. If you go into an arena hungry or tired, you will have negative status effects. If you go in horny, you will orgasm faster. The game has a phone to help manage this system. It will show you each stat of your character and if you have any status effects. Visually, the ui will look similar to The Division.

You will be able to pay for rent on the computer (or setup auto payments). If you miss rent, you will not be able to go home, so you will start to get tired and get negative status effects. This will make the battles more difficult (and can be a way to make the game more challenging). To mitigate the downward snowball of negative status effects, you can play other mini games inside the market. There's poker, there will possibly be prostitution, and others added with updates. If this rent system feels super difficult or useless once implemented, we can always remove it. It may be a feature only for higher difficulties.


Sex:

Now the most important part. SEX! You can fuck anything in the game(maybe not the random people in the market). The places sex could happen are: In the arena, in your apartment, in training, in the market(?). This will increase lust until you orgasm at which point lust will go back to 0.
You can also masturbate and buy a range of dildos that may give you buffs or make you orgasm faster (each will have a unique animation set). Each monster made will have the dick removed and turned into a dildo.


Effective time frame:

We're planing on a mid 2021 pre-alpha. This would be the marketplace + apartment functionality. With maybe a demo of fighting. Creating the sheer amount of animations and characters is going to be a challenge. You also may have noticed I never once mentioned environment art. That's cause... well we don't have an environment artist. Gretta2(character artist) knows the general art side of environments, but we will need to learn the technical side. I do know a few environment artist coworkers, so we should be able to learn the general rules of environments from them.
We want to keep the map small, essentially like: 4 shops, 1 arena, 1 apartment. And focus on characters and gameplay. Therefore we can shave off some time on that end, no need to make a massive world with advanced open world logic.
Hopefully by 2022 we will be have an Alpha/Beta with all functionality and a couple bosses/monsters, and by 2023 a finished game. Obviously all of this could change if we bring on more people or if one of us dies, but we're staying hopeful :)

Thank you for reading about our game! I hope we can make something that you will enjoy playing. If you have any feedback about the game, I'd love to hear it. I know some of these mechanics are a bit over-engineered and most likely completely op or broken.
I also don't know if the game rides too close to bestiality. I'd like to stay on the safe side of the fence, so we may make the creatures more furry-like. Unless monsters aren't an issue.

If nothing else, I'll congratulate you for making such an epic first post.

Your team's concept seems pretty ambitious.

I am always impressed at how good an early stage development game can look in unreal engine.

I have a feeling we'll scale back a few of these systems by the time they are being built. But the description above is everything we hope to create!

Not everything gets flaged Paralogue got the go for Japan at least with their Hound of Tindalos (Dog like)

Been a bit since I last posted here about the game.
Since last posting, we have been working on setting up the Character pipeline and further concepting the gameplay:


Character Pipeline:

We have worked for quite a while trying to find the most efficient way to create high quality characters with good deformation and an optimized poly count. The current time to create a new character is around 3-4 days, which we feel is a solid place to be. The characters have a FACS based face rig and solid correctives as well!


The Body poly count is sitting around 35k, but the hairs are currently 100k-200k and could be optimized. We are using hair from marketplaces, but plan on replacing them with hand done cards in the future.

Our clothes pipeline is still not finished, but we are playing around with the new chaos cloth sim from Unreal to see what we can do with it.

While I deleted the post about the creature earlier, he will likely be in the game later as another character.. But we are still on the fence when it comes to if that would be ok. We will definately have more humanoid creatures tho! We are currently thinking: Angels, Lizzard/Dragon guys and Werewolves.

Gameplay Blocking:


For gameplay, we have changed quite a bit since the initial post. The idea of it being turn based has changed to real time. It's generally akin to a boxing game with 4 types of attacks:
1. Light
2. Thrust
3. Vertical
4. Horizontal
You can use these attacks to increase a characters "Stagger" meter. Once the stagger meter is passed a certain level, you can parry an attack or grab the enemy to start having sex with them. You continue to do so until you make them orgasm.
Your ally and their ally can assist or stop you from making the other character orgasm by punching you or grabbing you.

The current animations are placeholder single frame or 3 frame blockouts for timing purposes. Once we get the timing as satisfying as we can, we will swap them out for proper animations.

Environment:

Currently, the environment art is in a very early concepting phase. We have fleshed out the general world this takes place in and are currently working on designing the exact location. But the general concept is that it takes place in a Redlight styled Central European city. There will be a big arena for the fights along with a few shops and entertainment around the area.

Future:
Preview.jpg Our next steps are to finish up the boxing gameplay and start creating the environments. At some point, we will need to integrate enemy ai and the sex animations, but we want to get the generally feeling of fighting to a good point first. I'll be posting more consistent updates on as well along with some pinups and animations :)

Been a bit!

Sex Scenes/Gameplay


Since our animator has been on vacation, I have been working on creating the backend for the game's sex scenes.
One part that has been a huge challenge for us is trying to find gameplay that is fun without needing an obscene level of development time.

One solution we found for the sex scenes is to have them work in a similar way to rhythm games. This lets the player have direct control over the action without requiring two hands :)

The ui and animation are very much templates, with the main focus being the general pipeline and formula behind the scoring. If we go with this solution for sex scenes, we would likely have a different way to do grinding or rubbing scenes. The rhythm system mainly seems to work for thrusting style scenes.

Additionally, completing a sex scene will generally let you view a non-gameplay based version of the scene, so you can focus more on the animation and have a place to rest

Graphics


In the graphics area, we have done some optimization tests to see what UE5 features are actually usable in real time. The "cinematic" graphics settings in UE5 seem to be unusable, I expect they are for offline renders, but at "high" a 2080ti is handling the scene very well! A 2080ti has around 13tfops, around the same tflops as a ps5/3060.

We are also almost done with Female locomotion! Hoping to have video of that soon. I will make a followup post just about the female character, as there has been a lot of work on her since last posting.

We are currently working on the face of the female character, next is eyebrows (thus the masks). Along with testing some art styles for a cyberpunk-esque nightclub. The clothes are all quick concepts of different outfits.
