I'm 64 and wanting to make my very first adult game before my time is over. Are there anyone that can tell me what game engine is easy and best to use and what other programs I will need to make the characters move and where if any to get them in 3d. I have the time on hand to do this if I can find the help. If I had posted this in the wrong section then where could I post this. I'm mostly a writer that keeps me busy two hours a night but getting tired of doing nothing during the days. Thanks.

Most of the 3d models are made in , you can download them and tweek them yourself. Its free but the assets not so much, there is some here Daz can make animations but you need a pretty good computer to render them out and another whole lot of skill sets, so you are best to start with static pics. Most of us use
which is 100% free, is easy enough to use but there is a learning curve, youtube is your best friend to get started with both. It takes time but, I released the first demo of game last month, took me 8 months to get to to that point though as like you I knew nothing when I started.

First sorry for my english but it's not my native language.
If you want to make a game in real 3D (I mean real time 3D where characters can move) you can use Unity 3D.
Ren'py is most suitable to create Visual Novel with static pictures (2D or 3D) or pre calculated 3D animations.
And for real time 3D it's not recommended to use DAZ or Poser characters because they are composed of too many polygons and too complicated textures to be animated in real time.

This makes no sense, characters are one of the few things you want to have highly detailed, especially in a porn game when they are close to the camera.

While polygon budget is a thing, you can get away with a lot with today's technology... As far as you do not overdo it with sculpting details that would be just as fine as a normal map.

"Complicated textures" make even less sense, characters are again one of the things where I would be using 4096px textures and whatever resolution you will be using will not impact the animation at all.

To add on what mickydoo said, I would suggest this tutorial: to start with Ren'py.

Also, do not be afraid to do multiple games, the first one could be really simple, just as a way to learn how everything works, from daz3d to ren'py.

There are a lot of methods you can use to put characters into Unity, for 3D games.

Abobe Flash can use 3D models now., but Renpy doesn't do 3D.

I want to believe you but can you give me names of non professional games in Realtime 3D which use DAZ or Poser models ?
None that I know of, considering their license.
However, if you do a quick google search you will see that games such as the witcher 2 have characters whose polycount ranges from 20 to 30k, which should be about as much as DAZ3D.

-edit-
Oh, you meant non professional? That should be easier as those do not really have a polycount budget, if anything most go way over than what is necessary

-edit 2-
It is also common sense, especially if you consider that the witcher 2 is older and in third person... If you make a first person porn game and you put a 4096px for the floor and 1024px texture you can zoom close to a character then there is something wrong.

I don't think that witcher 2 was developed by only one man during his free time ;)
But i didn't want to start a controversial issue. Just say to jhb that if he wants to do real time 3D (that's i had understood) it's better to use unity than ren'py and it was easier to start with "light" 3D models

I had misread, thought you wanted to know professional titles with high poly characters.

I am sure a few unreal engine games here and there have the same if not more high poly characters, it is not a big deal as you think.

To avoid going off topic even more, if jhb wants to make a real time 3D game then polywog's reply is the right one.
If that is the case, you may want to look into not as powerful as iClone but it is free, good to start with.

Thanks for your help. I made a typo I see as where I stated 3d. Games I was thinking about is like a game Plump City and so on. Since the weather is very strange here with lighting, thunder and sometimes sleet as well as a flakes of snow. I'm fixing to check out the link above and hope I can make a nice one for all.

Yeah, plump city was made with Ren'Py and the 3D renders were done with DAZ3D, I believe.

Thanks a lot. I have a copy of DAZ3D on a disk and after I copy off one HDD onto another computer I will install everything I need to start and make one. Have a nice rest of a day.

Thanks. I have four computers all hooked up as well as a laptop and they are very good and updated with very good hardware and I will give this a go after I finish coping to get a clean PC. Thanks.

daz studio is a free download from daz, if your old copy doesn't work out, you can download anew.[/QUOTE
Thanks. Mine is a little over a year old so I will just remove the old one and D/L a new one.
