Hey, is there a way to edit the persistent file? This is the file on the savedata where for example you can edit whether the gallery is unlocked or not. I tried loading it on the save editor but it crashed.

don't know why but when i load a save file about half of the top rows are ok (meaning i can read them and change them) but as i scroll down they change into some strange combination of symbols and letters that i can't make out , reminds me a little like when trying to run games that have language which is not supported so the text is a mess so i switched my system locale from japan to english though that didn't help , other guess is those are values that i haven't yet discovered/activated in game . what i tried to do is in this game there is a crossroad 1st path actvates v1 = 1 2nd v2 = 1 and 3rd sx = 1 i tried to choose one path and activate other two with editor found v1 and v2 but sx doesn't appear unless i choose that path so is it possible to find it or is it more that i'd have to open save with some other program and write sx = 1 ? thing is i tried notepad emeditor couldn't open the save file (at least not in a readable way)

I seem to be having issues finding and modifying values in some ren'py save games using this program. While if I use saveeditonline I don't have this issue, admittedly most of those same values are only available for patrons, but still.

Some examples of game saves where I have this issue are. Due Process where I can't find the values for the MC skill level in Coding, Biology and Chemistry to edit. While in saveeditonline I can find them easily, I just can't change them as they are patreon only. Another is in Ciri trainer as for some reason the gold value is called Vesemir > 2 while saveeditonline has it as gold.

In both cases I have tried first finding the values using saveeditonline then searching them on this, but something seems to be different as they rarely show up. I don't know why this is and since it seems that only this and saveeditonline seem able to edit ren'py saves I am a bit stuck.

when you say "values are available for patrons only" do you mean values of this save editor online save editor or values in game ?((gonna start hatin' when things tied to a game are patrons only like gallery is for patrons only and stuff) i mean it's ok patrons should get extra stuff like extra scenes art and so on but gallery should be part of core game build))

Both have the same answer : Objects aren't still handled by this tool.

Sorry could you please explain what "Objects aren't still handled" means I don't get it.
It mean that what you explained is normal.
And if it's still not enough, I'll let wikipedia .

So do you mean that when the save is loaded by the tool it doesn't load certain values/their name? Because my understanding isn't quite clicking.

I tried using this tool on, Long Live The Princes. I wanted to change the ability points like agility and courage, ect... Nothing like that is showing up, or I don't know how to use the tool, which is probably the case haha.

Forgive me if I'm asking for something which has already been answered, but a lot of the variables in my save files don't have a name, just symbols. Any way to change this? The game is Acting Lessons. You get a choice in the beginning of choosing whether you want to be well-read, strong, or charismatic, which opens up various response throughout the game. I wanted to try editing a save file to see if I could enable all 3, but I can only find the specific trait I've chosen, though there are billion variables with indiscernible names.
I've attached a picture of the issue and a save file. (not the issue happens even if I hide Ren'Py dialogs and variables.)

@Scryehard - not going to download and rip apart the whole game to confirm this, but my guess is that the variable for the trait you choose is created after you make a choice, meaning a save file will only have the trait you chose.

Unless I missed something in this save editor you can only change the variables that exist in your save file.

This may be long, but please spare a moment.

Firstly, I would like to thank @Last Moment, for sharing and caring. Keep up the good work, I (and others) await your next update.

Secondly, to clarify a few opinions:
when you say "values are available for patrons only" do you mean values of this save editor online save editor or values in game ?...
The author of the online site decided it fair that by providing a way that allows to decrypt/decompile/decompress (I am unsure if/and/or) certain COMMON file(type)s, that they should restrict the capacity to edit the contents (of which they have no claim, proprietary or otherwise) behind a paywall. I respect that some (VERY limited) variables can be edited for free (that also dependent on the file), but I personally (and with the most respect to that person and the reason(s) they have committed/decided to do this) feel a little unhappy that this is how it has come to be.
better use the online site, its easier
In my humble opinion, let us compare; a website that requires a PAYWALL to do 'almost' anything, or a software that (while currently limited by comparison) can be utilized to achieve the same (or similar) purpose for FREE...
With all due respect, I rest my case.

Lastly,
l apologize if I this issue has been explained or dealt with, but the attached save (from a game called "Academy34") that lacks the information (even with all filters removed) provided when using the saveedit website. If possible I would like to know this is an 'object' issue as raised by @anne O'nymous, in which case I apologize once more, at the same time request an update that can tackle this (fairly) longstanding issue.
If not please do not hesitate to educate me (and others that interested as well), I would like to know how/why this is the case.

Thank you for your time and attention.
