just installed windows 10 and now i cant open any renpy games. it just wont launch, not even one error, but the mouse shows the loading sign.

Also check to see if your anti-virus software is blocking it. If so, add the blocked program to the whitelist for your av.

Just formated a new PC (my old one still have the same image) with Windows 7 ultimate 64bits (same OS and version from old PC) and I cant run any Renpy based game (the game is "runnning" on Task Manager but the game windows dont appear
EDIT: ok, thats freaking bizarre. I remember that yesterday I tested some new uploads and today installed the new version of antivirus. Reinstalled the whole shit and restarted my PC. For about 30~50sec after the reboot I could start one game, after that period same error (none game opens).

I can't open some Ren'Py games like Dreams of Desire and General Practitioner. I can open others though such as Milfy City - so it's not all Ren'Py games that are affected.
Like the OP, when I run the exe, nothing happens. The mouse cursor shows it is loading for a few seconds but nothing after that, not even an error message.
Task manager also shows nothing running.
I thought it might have been due to language settings as another user mentioned (I recently changed my computer's location to Japan to play some j-visual novels) but I don't think that is the cause.
PLEASE help me troubleshoot this so I can play my favourite game (Dreams of Desire)!

Same issue here. Some renpy games just dont open at all (Ascendant Hearts, Love Witches), but some work just fine.

still no solution for this? the only way i can open renpy games is restarting the pc but is bothersome

re download game and extract, turn off Antivirus temporarily try running game . If it runs close it out and turn antivirus back on .if it does not run with antivirus active you will need to go to quarantine in your antivirus restore files and white list (give it permission to run ) some antivirus suites are aggressive and give false positives on renpy .exe files
have had this issue with bit defender blocking renpy exe files and that is the way i dealt with it

btw i solve my problem by moving the game file to my main disk (C) next to program files 
. So maybe, the problem is that putting the game file into pile of file (for hiding purpose of course ). Somehow game cannot run itself in this circumcitance.

for me when I try to run my game as admin some games dont load at all. nothing comes up they just dont open up
I had a similar problem where a ren'py executable could not open the .py file.
Looking at this old thread gave me an idea:
I had used a special character creating the folder where I kept the Ren'py game. When I renamed the folder using only common characters the problem was gone.

something is def off. All games worked perfectly on my win 10 laptop , but that went for repair so i am using a win 7 64 bit laptop for now. The thing is the games work normally right after they are extracted from archives. but after a restart, they dont. When i launch them , the program shows up in task manager , but then it gets terminated in 2 seconds. so i take out the saves and delete the folder, re extract the game and place the saves back and run it again, NOW it WORKS?!?! WHYYY???

looked up the log file in my most recent game download.. Bimbo High chapter 6... game launches.. only.. creates a log file and then its stop automatically on interfac cut short (Listed below) it don't create the whole log file to start the game. i also updated my windows 10 to 1903..it could be that as well? ren'Py version is fine. everything else i can't understand.. perhaps if i simply downgrade to eariler windows version.. i might get to play all the same.
