Hey guys need some help. The game isn't starting for me anymore, idk why. No errors or anything, it just doesn't start. I tried deleting, re-downloading and re-installing the game but to no avail.
So no error whatsoever is reported? Do other Ren'Py game launch correctly?

I downloaded few other Ren'Py games but none of them seem to work. All of them have the same problem. They just don't start and yeah, they don't give any error message whatsoever.

Which OS are you on?
Do you get any "errors.txt" or "traceback.txt" files in the game's folder? If yes, care to post the content here?

I can only wonder and suggest you update your system and your drivers (in particular the graphic cards ones), then restart and hope everything works.
Thank you for replies. I upgraded my gpu drivers just yesterday. Any other drivers I should upgrade? I am thinking to reinstall OS itself. What baffles me is that KoD worked perfectly until last week but suddenly stopped working.

If you can't run any Ren'Py game KoD is not the problem. And it not even launching instead of giving some error points to some more fundamental and general problem too.
Are perchance on a laptop? If so, are you sure you're using your graphical card and not the integrated graphical card? It happened to me once that the latter got set as default and all sort of shenanigans started happening.

So, has anyone found a code/crack to unlock the entire gallery at once or is this game safer than a bank's database? Thank you!
There's a mod linked in the OP and it has such a feature.

Yeah, I initially thought that this was a KoD issue but after having the same problem with another 2-3 games I figured out it must be something else. I am not using laptop. Any idea what this might be? Its really troubling me :frown:

Btw, I get log.txt and it says following:

It seems the log is cut off abruptly, since "Cleaning" should be "Cleaning cache took" followed by the time.
I can't think of anything, sorry.

It might be a running problem with packaged renpy version the games are using if the problem is somewhat localized, update drivers, try running with compatibility.

My gpu drivers are up-to-date. I tried running the game with win 7/8/xp compatibility mode but it doesn't work. I noticed that after clicking on the game the task manager shows that game is running under background processes for few seconds before the icon disappears.

Did you change your computer's locale recently? I know Ren'Py is difficult if your computer is running in a Japanese locale for instance.

That advice was right. It's been reported that some characters in the game directory's path can make Ren'Py fail.
It's reported for japanese stuff at least. If you have for some reasons a system which uses non standard char sets for western systems it could be it. Check out what locale is and what's set to. Then try to see if the game directory's path has weird characters in it.
Or, but this is just a random guess, maybe the path is too long and weird stuff happens?

Ouch, a whole month without a single progress update. It's hard to believe patrons voted to encourage this type of dev cycle.

Disagree, I'm on the contrary prefer more solid updates and those need more time, than those rushed monthly half arsed updates with 10 min gameplay. =/
I think the issue is that there hasn't been any progress reports on what's going on for a month, neither public or private, on their patreon. While I also prefer the larger updates every x months, the lack of communication on their page is not good.

Which is somewhat surprising considering Sierra posts regular weekly updates on her own Patreon...

Yesterday she posted there that currently she feel like doing only two things: finishing the Stenai update (37.x release of TLS) and writing (as in novels, not game dialogue or short stories). I'm not sure what that mean for next KoD update but considering she's the one who does the writing I'd say probably nothing good.

Whether someone communicates a lot doesn't impact the rate at which they produce content. Since the dev has been producing content for a long time and doesn't have a habit of abandoning profitable projects theres no good reason to assume something bad happened. Last update took a long time, it's not close to that timeframe yet.
