I agree with you 100%, slow burn games are pretty much the only type that even interest me.
- throws an extra two cents on the table -

I'm not certain it even is that slow of a burn. Pity the expression has morphed into something negative over time.
Everything in the world is about sex. Except sex. Sex is about power.

Games like these, with such contexts, they ought to be built on a solid foundation. Sexual tension and build up are the bricks of the incest house. As I'm sure most of us have witnessed, most crumble after the deed is done. Can't even say crumble, as most just fucking end. The sex being the final act, however long or short the time you invested in getting there was, is just the disappointing symptom of the lack of narrative. It ends up feeling weightless and artificial because it is.

Good writing is hard. Especially for most of these developers, who slobber over their Cap'n Crunch bowls while thinking of ways to figure out how to blue ball people to stuff money into their patreons, proud of the monthly (if that), sad excuses of "content updates" they barely manage to squeeze out of their blemished little butt cheeks.

I'm wondering about the "need" for a walkthrough in many games. I'm just curious, I'm not judging anyone or anything. I wonder if walkthroughs are just a way to get rid of some bad gameplay and run to the sex scenes or is it because games are too hard and one's gets stuck?

For example I recently searched for a walkthrough for Big Brother, but just because it wasn't very clear what the game needed me to do to continue some story arc after a while being stucked in an endless loop.

What do you think about this?

For me it's the former. I don't play these for the gameplay, I play them to get my rocks off. Walkthroughs help fasten that process.

It can be both for me. Some erotic games have very bad gameplay with grinding and stuff, some is hard and you can easily get stuck. Walkthroughs definitely fasten all this, but i'm not using them unless i absolutely need it. It's more interesting to experience story myself.

I agree it's both, depending on the game. With Visual Novels, I like playing the game my own way the first time around to see what I would get, but that usually means I miss many opportunities and points to unlock all content. A walkthrough is just nice to have so I can explore all the content the game has to offer. Especially when the game requires me to do a specific thing at a specific time or place, there is a large chance I would miss it entirely without one.

Why a walkthrough...
It's different why I want a walkthrough for a game like Fallout and the games on F95zone.
The main reason comes down to the question: Is it end of content, a bug, or am I not doing it right?
Playing a game through multiple versions, the puzzles and criteria can change and doing what worked before and having it not work is annoying.
I'm willing to give an adult game less time than I would a mainstream retail game.
With all the non english speakers writing games, I often need a walkthrough to figure out what option I should choose.
I think that covers the main reasons I use walkthroughs for adult games.

You'll notice the most $uccesful games, gain/retain patrons by avoiding the complaints you make.
Each update is a day, a week, episode, or a level with a clear end. An abrupt wtf is there more? pisses away patrons.

A changelog, is not optional. Clearly state "added new brunette, but you can't fuck her yet in this version"
nothing drives away money faster than lies, and deception. If you screenshot content, it better really be in-game.
adding a bunch of tags for "planned content" says "look at me, i'm an attention whore, who doesn't put out"

your irritation about what worked before should work again... in development, sometimes changes are unavoidable
you're developing a fictitious story, not documenting historical facts. Early games can change a lot. a character's character evolves as you progress in the build. The beauty, who was initially eye candy, finds her role in the story as the pieces come together. Suddenly, she works in an office, and her past working at the bikini car-wash is out of character, for her new role.
If you liked her bikini scene, don't delete v0.2 it's there for eternity, even if it's cut from v0.3

I'm not opposed to walkthroughs, but in adult games they shouldn't be necessary. The main story should be linear, designed for the broadest audience, requiring minimal skill to complete. 40 branches of the story were missed by those who rushed through, but no one moans "i'm stuck, this game suck dicks" always give an out, that leads back to the main path. "i can't open this door, puzzle is to hard, so i'll skip it for now, and play again to try." vs. "i'm stuck in puzzleroom and can't escape... fuck this game"

I'm very happy about your post polywog, because that's EXACTLY what I'm doing with my game. :D

Personally, I don't use walkthroughs during a game. In case I got stuck and I'm at my patience limit, I just drop the game because It might be either I'm not smart enough to solve the puzzle or it's illogically designed. After I finish a game I might use it to verify whether I missed something or not, other outcomes etc.

Ummm... Shouldn't this discussion about walkthroughs be in it's own thread or something? I keep seeing new posts in this thread & think 'cool! I wonder what's new?' only to see talk about walkthroughs that are not related to Dual Family... sigh...
