Anyone else think the popular game list needs some purging :P

I'm not here to discredit some of the developers, but does anyone else think that there are far better games out there that deserve the popular games spot than the ones actually in it?

I realized how many amazing games there are when it comes to gameplay, story, characters and content in general when I actually went through pages of games that weren't in popular.
This is both sad for the developers that need that support and people who want a great adult game since they are basically buried in the pages of hundreds of games.

Some games I played like Milfy city, Hack'n'Stalk 2, and Taffy Tales really amazed me. And who knows how many more there are just hidden in pages of games. And then you have the popular games...... now some of them do deserve that place but games like teacher's pet, big brother, and man of the house really need to be replaced imo.

Why? first of all teacher's pet's developer basically went silent, not updating and basically being lazy. Similar thing for Big Brother and Man of the house, its just very little content and frankly static images aren't good enough for that spot. Go play these games I discovered first and you will understand what I mean.

What are your guys opinion on this???

EDIT: Yeah I know that "Popular" games doesn't necessarily mean "Best" games, I just think there should be like another section for "Top Games" like some people suggested to help some of the hidden gems out there.

I mean Big Brother got cancelled, Man of the House is updated a couple of times a month sometimes, and I don't know what happen with teacher's pet. but the popular games where some (not all) of the first games to get big on patreon and are very popular on there too and now there very popular here too.

you are right particularly
there are alot of game that i have played and it was better better than the popular games
but in my opinion these are popular games not the best but the most well know for all and the most visited
so the stuff put them all in popular so you can reach them easily

They should all be removed. I mean, what's even the purpose of having them there, other than promoting the game F95 deems best? There's usually 1 active thread, which is the main release thread. The rest is "fan art", which other games have in the general forum section, mods, which other games have in the mods section, a bunch of random bug threads that moderators didn't bother deleting and some extraction tools that can easily be linked in the main thread.

If you want popular games, just sort by thread views or replies.

Yes, but not for the reasons you said, simply there are some more popular games in the common forum, Milfy City being one that after getting 150+ pages with 0.1, should be moved there. Regarding BB, TP, both games still have a lot of forum activity despite being on-hold/cancelled(?), so they still should be in there.

Hidden gems are by definition unpopular, they have no reason to be in there.

Games that are popular get talked about a lot with or without the special reminder that they are eh..."popular"...
Hidden gems
A hidden gems section on the other hand would make a lot more sense...unpopular or not...if it's a gem I wanna know about it....with the quantity uploaded each day to the "latest updates" section I feel like the risk to miss out on these "gems" is way higher than to miss all the hype created by games that are usually mentioned in every single thread on here. The real question should not be to purge this or that game from this list but to replace the section "popular games" with something like "the insider tip"

I think the popular is more about easy of access than to promote a game. It also helps other games get more visibility, as the popular would be effectively pinned in the first pages if they were in the general forum.

Anyway a featured game/hidden gem category would be cool, but I can see why it would be more trouble than it's worth for the mods.

It's also more subjective. A popular game is popular because many people talk about it. But a game can be a hidden gem for one and a total crap for someone else.
So, perhaps more a, "promoted this week" list of games, randomly picked from games which don't have had many comments lately and have a globally low number of comments. Some kind of, "we don't know if these games are good or not, but you probably missed them, so why not seeing by yourself ?"
There's actually 2 183 threads in the game section, it's sure that we all missed a lot of them. So, having a script picking each week, let's say 10 of them, and generating something like the "latest games & updates" list. Just to exhume them time to time. The game we are still waiting for can be among them without us knowing it.

What do you have against Man of the House? It updates twice a month, now has animations, the dev is active here, what more would you want?
Don't get me wrong, I've spoken with Faerin about my concerns and he's a very good guy. That, has nothing to do with his game. His game is one in a long line of games that substitute Narrative with grind. Your sisters's and mother's motivations for being with you are thin at best, molestation at most. Nothing about the game gave me a sense of accomplishment, with mom, or the little sister in particular, the advancement of the plots is almost entirely related to grind and has almost no narrative. The loose explanation of little sister is curious but inexperienced, means you're taking advantage of her naivete to service your own needs. The plot about your mom being so hungry for dick that any dick she saw would do is, quite frankly, lazy and unbelievable, and the psychology email bullshit that follows lands us again squarely in the molestation category. Blackmail, with the older sister is also a complete travesty. First off, as it is in most porn games, the blackmail is so paper thin that it won't even work. Secondly, your sister's transformation from complete bitch to submissive whore has no weight, as it is like a switch that gets flipped, rather than anything that was foreshadowed or shown.

As a writer, and a fan of incest harem games, there are so many ways this could have been written that would have more weight. If you're curious as to what I mean, I'd be more than willing to give you a synopsis of how, I personally, would rewrite them, utilizing many of the same story beats and elements that Faerin did, but removing the necessity for grind completely, no more repetition, no more need for a cheat menu, and making the girls in the game either proactive, meaning that their pursuit of the MC is equal or at least believable, or have their reactions to the actions of the MC make sense for their character.

I don't think Faerin's game is completely shit. The art is better than a lot of others. The fact that he's implemented animations is great, and his sex scenes, while generally short, were always better than his contemporary Dark Silver with Big Brother. Personally, I look forward to Faerin finishing MotH and taking some of the criticism he's gotten for it to make something better next time. I think he has it in him, it's only a matter of time till we see what he does.

one thing i wonder is why in that "popular" section, games are not shown as in "Games", like with a proper title, all dem prefixes and version and stuff ?

in forum section view I mean, not in "I already entered the thread" view.

A random script pick would be ideal as of course you are right about one's favorite being something to best ignore for another. It would be a good impartial way to get some recommendations other than the usual suspects though for sure as discussions about what games to play next tend to result in the same old answers with few and far in between exceptions.
Anyway a featured game/hidden gem category would be cool, but I can see why it would be more trouble than it's worth for the mods.
While I would like to see that category ( 2183 threads compared to the 1-200 threads I know...) I agree that other topics like the revamp of the latest update section ( ) are more important at the moment.

Having just shown up to this site a little while ago, after going through a lot of the 'pop' games, much better games were found just by looking at completed + age of first post / game size (for renders) haha. I keep clicking on older members game lists / posts to find the 'gems' and actual decent games instead of the fap $$$ crap. idk a good solution but Id rather have a few nice curated lists by some members than trying to endlessly search the bottomless pit. (Also if these lists exist, please let me know!)

There's a few of those on Game Suggestions. You can also go there make a post including the fetishes and things you're looking for and get a nice list of suggestions from some of us. I usually respond within 8 hours, assuming you post it as I go to sleep, and aren't into something I can't help with.

I could be mistaken, but I've always thought that the Popular Games designation is generated completely objectively by the number of posts in the thread for that game and the total number of views for that thread. It's simply a matter of math and has nothing to do with whether the mods at F95 think it's a "good" game subjectively (trust me, the mods would LOVE it if the Teacher's Pets thread died a swift death, for good reason). As someone pointed out recently on the Teacher's Pets thread, ironically, the number of people posting in that thread to ask "Why is this game popular?" is keeping that game in the Popular Games category! It's like Tinkerbell.... if we stop believing in the thread, it will die.

Newer games that excite a lot of people, like Milfy City, will surely reach Popular Games status soon, and "gems" like Depraved Awakening probably won't, based on the number of posts and views in each thread.

The Games Suggestions area can be helpful thanks to members who are generous with their time, but I do wish there was a more sophisticated way for people to find curated lists of games they are most likely to find appealing.

So I should get together with like 5 other people to spam the depraved awakening thread? Because I guarantee I could make that happen.
