I think there is a file missing in the update. I get this after i beat the dragonfly.
Yeah I made a mistake with that in the last release. I did check into it and fixed it in my current build, but there's so many things I want to work on and that I'm in the middle of that I would probably break more stuff than fix if I released a patch for that. Not sure if it helps any but it's not necessary to finish that boss. It's an optional thing.

Thanks for playing and for the feedback. I am still working on it. I haven't really delved into it much yet, but the intro will actually change significantly in the next update. Mostly there are things I want to be in sync with the overall story and the current intro just isn't up to par. It raises too many questions that I can't give a satisfactory answer to. The storyline/events of The Tower will mostly remain the same, although I do want to streamline it, especially to have the monotonous doctor visits plowed through with one moderate cutscene that will skim through all those days.

The reason I haven't already redone the intro is because I want to redo a lot of the artwork. I'm trying to use asset packs I already have so that I can save money for use on character portraits and sprites. Here's an example of what I've managed so far:
Every time I would startup the game and try to playtest I couldn't help but notice the garishly large furniture and blurry textures besides. They clash so much against Sienna's sprite, as well as others. I might not redo all the art before the next release, but I certainly would like to have the intro redone. I think the game would look a lot better with appropriately styled and sized backgrounds and objects. Hopefully that won't take too long to accomplish.

Would anyone miss Dillon if he is cut out as a playable character entirely? (he would still be in the game as Vallerie's progenitor, but aside from that he would pretty much be "just another one of those rapey guys")

It's been so long, honestly, I don't even remember who he is... one of the guys in the Tower, I bet. That place is dark. I remember that the game flipped that early happy-go-lucky notion right on its head pretty quick! (The dark themes, gore, and oppression was incredibly hard to swallow at first as I recall.) Ah anyway, going back to your question, you do what you think is best. I know that you needed a break from it, but hopefully you're back in the saddle. If cutting the character's role in the game improves the game overall and expedite things, then I say go for it! After all, the focus were supposed to be on the fairies anyway, wasn't it? Cheers and good luck in whatever you decide to do.

I've been watching a lot of youtube videos about writing and stuff, and after thinking about it a lot I believe Dillon just gets in the way of an improved storyline and game flow. It's been a long time since I did the doctor visit events in The Tower and so it's a bit of a hot mess. I'm planning on cutting all that out completely and turning it into a few brief flashbacks.

how do i do that door with all those spiders shooting balls ?
I think you're talking about the spider boss in the caves to the east of The Tower? (after digging out the entrance)
If so, and if memory serves, I believe you have to watch for that boss to flash for a moment. You can then interact with it which will damage it. Doing this several times will finish off the spider.

You have to be right next to it, facing it, and press the action button.

Sorry this wasn't made more clear in-game. Hopefully I can provide better instructions for such bosses in future revisions.

You have to attack the eye that corresponds to the color of the ball. You'll need to change the color each time you finish off one of the eyes.

Any news from the dev? His last post on Patreon was Aug 28 and at the blog Sep 12. I'd like to try out this game but from the looks of it there was a major revamp in the works. I got here from a suggestion of games that are supposed to be a bit more challenging, thus it would be sad to see it being abandoned or something.

Not abandoned. Still commissioning portraits for characters and trying to find sprite/pixel artists.
I haven't worked (directly) on the game since September. This is partly due to needing better sprites & objects for the revamp, and also due to my video game addiction (which is complicated, considering it's like telling a writer they should not read - but I think I'm doing a lot better). I think I finally found another sprite artist so hopefully things will pick up again soon. :)

Latest portrait/expressions commission was Sakina:


Next up will be Nadie and then Vallerie, the last two fairy children that need portraits.
