I honestly can't understand why so many people keep crying about the save file compatibility. It was explained over and over again that in order to make the savegames compatible, the code of several already existing stories has to be reworked. After 0.18 (Jenny) only Erik's story seems to be left and everytime it has been up in the polls it didn't win, which means the majority of Patrons don't care about it. And since they are the ones giving DarkCookie money he listens to them.
Yeah, you could argue if he should put it up to vote at all or just do it, but it's his game so he gets to decide how to proceed.

And all those people complaining "I have to do everything from the start with each update" don't seem to read the full announcements, because DarkCookie and his team started providing a save file with which you can play the new content without replaying the old one:

Kinda like a lot of other creators do when they change so much in their games that old saves lose compatibility. In my opinion a fine compromise until the last of the old code is reworked.
I think that it is actually a pretty valid complaint. Especially if you are giving money. If not, then.. its free so.. you get what you pay for and all that.
For a major update, sure I can understand that making the saves compatible would be too much of a pain to bother with, but for a small update? Bug fixes? How much can the structure really change that you need to completely re-do everything.
I really like SS, but the save file issue is why for must people, it's only worth playing every couple major releases.
Yes, there are save files, but that is not the same as being able to start where you left off, which, I admit.. is actually kinda annoying.
It seems also like a lot of people take issue with someone having a negative opinion of something they didnt pay for. Of course they have a right to an opinion. Everyone does.
That doesnt mean anyone will listen to them or care, but don't act like you are the only person who is allowed to have an opinion.

What I don't understand is why people feel the need to redo everything in the game each update. It took me all of like 5 minutes to reach the beginning of Diane's content and then another like 20 minutes to finish it. Why the fuck do you need a compatible save for that?

Ok, i'm stupid or the console does not work in this version? Changed "config.console = True", next "SHIFT + O " and... console does not open.

Like I said, It was explained multiple times in detail why savegames are incompatible with every update, no matter how small. Here it is from Dogeek, one of the coders:

Yes, there are save files, but that is not the same as being able to start where you left off, which, I admit.. is actually kinda annoying.
But that's not what people are saying. They are saying "I hate to do everything again to see the new stuff". Which they don't. They can start the game and access the new content or use the provided savegame if they want to keep the other stories unlocked while exploring the new content. I never said it was the perfect solution, but for the time being it is the way it is. And no amount of complaining on a forum which the developer doesn't (or rarely) check is going to change that.
That doesnt mean anyone will listen to them or care, but don't act like you are the only person who is allowed to have an opinion.
I am not saying I am the only one allowed to have an opinion. It is just frustrating that most people don't seem to care enough about the issue to read up on it, only to complain about it. I mean, between my post and your response there are two posts complaining about the savegames. Without people posting the same sentences over and over again ("what, I have to start a new game with every version, outrageous" and "new incest patch anyone" being the top candidates) this thread would have at least 500 pages less.

That's just the nature of the popular games section here.
People will always repeat the same 3 or 4 questions or complaints over and over again while completely ignoring any advice or helpful links in the OP. Happens in plenty of threads and there's nothing you can do about it except not giving a shit.

Been out since 0.17 drop (I couldn't play straight away and didn't want to be spoiled). I see nothing has changed too much in here. Just wanted to say Diane's update was great, even better than expected since all the shit posting made me unwillingly start expecting worse. How did people like it?

Glad for the christas surprise too, I kind of expected it but totally forgot after playing 0.17.
