I check back in every few months to find the same excuses - and the same defenders. To each his own.

Back to games that I can actually play...

Sometimes I feel like the members of this forum forget where they are:


If you have paid to support the development, then it is a discussion you should bring up with the developer in one of the channels they engage with their supporters through. My understanding is that the dev has been very careful about not charging people when they feel like they are not making progress on net new content. It is so entitled to come to a site where you are pirating their content for free and then complain about them not putting enough content out.

This is why the rule quoted above makes sense. This place is great for downloading games for free and for getting in depth descriptions of whether the content of that game matches your preferences.
Yes, it is nice to see how long it has been since the last update and how frequently they are coming. But since you "check back in every few months", you know exactly where the development is on this game. Why bother complaining about a dev not making enough content that you are not paying them for?

Instead maybe you should realize that the content they have provided you is high enough quality that it has made it worth checking back every few months, and be happy that the dev is putting a lot of their free time and effort into creating content that you like, with the full understanding that most people will not pay them for it?

Do the game advance slowly ? Yes, it do. It would be stupid to deny this.

But the fact is that it advance. In the chapter 4, Amanda invites the MC do a dinner for the next day, and that week I had the marvelous chance to test that scene ; so, I know firsthand that the game is still in development. A 20,000 words count scene, with ~400 renders. All this serving the usual enjoyable writing and quality, the expected bit of British humour, without forgetting it's mandatory sexual innuendo ; apparently Sarah have some competition with Amanda.
Not being among the official testers, I know less than 20% of the chapter 5, but I know that those 20% exists, and that they are far to be the only content that exist for that said chapter 5.


This said, we are talking about a game made by someone who we know as being too perfectionist. We like the result, because the game is fascinating and accurate, but this obviously imply time between two updates... A time that increase significantly when a car crash stop the progression and make Notty decide to extend everything she already did.
She released the new chapter 1, then new chapter 2... But due to some struggle with the game mechanism, she had to works on chapter 3 and chapter 4 in a totally random order. This while also working on the chapter 5. Reason why there's no ch 3rs, nor ch 4rs, release. They exist, but they'll be included in the ch 5 release.

Now, yes, it's been a long time that the chapter 2 new generation have been released... Like it's been a long time that Notty is working on her game. The very first release happened 5 years and 5 months ago. If you count the time needed to make that first release, it's been more than 6 years that she works on it. All this while still having to do her job, to live her life and to face illnesses and injuries.

I wonder how many, among the usual baby whiners who are regulars of that thread, would be able to stick to a task for so long... Like they can't express themselves without showing to the world how much they lack of patience and maturity, I guess that the count is near to zero.
They could just not care, simply waiting for the update to come when it will come, catching it with one of the many ways to do so offered by the forum. But apparently their own life is so boring and insignificant that they feel the need to spits on people who clearly do better than them, whatever how slow this "doing" can feel from our side as players.

Well, like they decide to acts like childish brats, let's just treat them like such. All children come to a realization when they discover that pissing on the floor, then furiously rolling in the puddle while shaking their legs and yelling as loud as they can, lead to no reaction...

Honestly, I understand the frustration. When you like content and you are excited for it to come out, but it comes with a long delay it can be frustrating.

I guess I am a little more optimistic, I would hope that for some of the people in here complaining about the time frame, helping them to understand that pointing out there is delays adds nothing to the conversation. As well as putting a lot of time in the devs are are putting themselves out there creatively and that is hard to do.

My constructive criticism would be to keep that in mind when commenting. Constant negativity is a part of why devs abandon projects. This is one I really enjoy, and selfishly I would rather the dev hears more about the fact that this one is good enough that people are keeping an eye on it instead of constantly complaining about it not being released.

Framing a comment as "can't wait for the next chapter because I enjoy it" instead of "I am sick of waiting for this, when is it ready" comes across a little less entitled, and importantly provides the dev with a reason to keep working instead of a reason to abandon.

No one gets clever points for pointing out that a game is taking a long time to develop, it is not a difficult thing to predict. Maybe shoot for kindness points instead.

Which is pretty much why notty doesn't come here any more which is a shame because it was great seeing her talk about the game more casual than the patreon updates.

A few years ago, I signed up to a male-male dating site on a bet. (In my defence, I was very drunk.)
Now, imagine you're roughly hungover, you check your mail and see that you've had a few inquiries from men you don't know. Some of whom have sent you dick pics to convince you.
I'm not homophobic, but it was quite a traumatizing experience, since then I feel it's important to clarify my preferences.
