Yeah, we knew that. He stopped tutoring when it happened. So of course he knew maya before, because he did tutor her and noriko.
I don't think he stopped tutoring because Sekai died. I would have to check with our resident lore master DeSkel but I think Ami (or maybe Noriko) implied she didn't know why he stopped tutoring. If it had been the same time as the accident it would have been obvious.
I did say he stopped when it happened, not because. Because his exact reasons why he did what he did, is so far still a mystery afaik.
No, he seemed to take a break from tutoring after the accident, then resumed it and that's when he tutored Maya. This was explained in Noriko's 'Loxosceles Reclusa' Chapter 2 Event.
My point was that if he stopped when she died nobody would have questioned why.
Basically the timeline seems to be:
The thing I find odd about this is it implies there was some unknown reason for him to stop tutoring instead of it being because he became a teacher, which would be easy for Ami and Noriko to assume so there must have been a gap. So something made him stop tutoring but didn't stop him from becoming a full blown teacher? Right now I'm thinking he had a similar issue with self control that he's having now. He stopped tutoring because he didn't trust himself around wizards and later on thought he would be better off with teenagers.
Well... maybe not in the game, but normal would still be confused what this had to do with them.
After being reunited in 'What Could Have Been', talking in his office in 'What Is', Noriko then brought Sensei to Niki in 'What Was'. All 3, Main Events, in Chapter 2 that occur the day after the last.

These previews have me intrigued for the next update. The fact we’ll have to wait a month extra for 0.41 already has me antsy.That is actually nothing special for a professional writer. And i have since long the theory that sel was one before he started LiL.
Take a look at some of the more mainstream games on this site (won’t name names) and tbh, I’d say we have it pretty good as far as monthly updates.
KK does also its part. I mean lets be honest, no matter how much work you put into every single pic, it is faster as something hand drawn. So it easily overcomes those. And like i said professionalism and experience of a writer would also help. A lot of people who make games here have never done something like it, nor anything similar. So of course they fail to reach the goals they have set themself. Either because they are not as fast as they thought they could be, or because they lack the professionalism to keep the pace that would needed for that. And i am sure that sel gets surely enough to make this his main job also does help.
