Ren'Py - Summertime Saga [v21.0.0 wip.4468] [Kompas Productions]

Had previously given the game 4 stars, but this is a bloody scam. The developer of this game worked on it for 2 years and has the gall to release a bare bones messy and incomplete mess with no sound that does not warrant the time and the investment people have made on this previously great game.

Amazing update, no notes. Imagine the new update as a enhanced version of the game we had. You remember last of us 2 enhanced version where nobody was able to tell the differenece between it and the original. Now cut the 80% of the content from it and this update is just that. But the game is now WIDESCREEN™️. The dev says they will be adding content BACK to the game and the updates will be every other month. With this speed hopefully the next generations will be able to experience the game like we did. I cant wait my son to grow up and praise the dev here because the update that took 3 years only added a soundfile to the game. That would bring a tear of joy to my eyes.

Dont listen to the haters, they just dont get it. The biggest game companies would normally pay millions to the CEOs who make decisions like adding micro transactions or force studios to make arena shooter games, which i love. Now we made, as THE PEOPLE™️, our own home grown version of that. And it was possible just with our never ending support in patreon. It is an honor to participate in this, really makes you feel like your are part of history

For game that exist more than 8 years game have too little content. Art style not that bad, but could be much better.
WHat about mini-games? they sucks.
Game have grind elements, useless as i think, but you can turn em off.

Somehow, the dev had the nerve to wipe 90% of his game, after 2 years of adding no content.

This game has NO content, for 8 years in the making. It is empty, and I cannot phantom how people are still supporting the dev after this.

Summertime saga was the first ever porn game I played and will always have a special place in my heart. I still remember the time DarkCookie used to be passionate about this project and put out quality update time after time.. but it seems like success has gone to his head and this is all just a cash grabbping scam now.. Still remember when just his patreon acct having a monthly income upwards of $ 60000.. and the guy has 30k members to date.. That's too much money for peanuts worth of effort.. hell, it's an insult to peanuts calling it that.

You guys need to be smart and think, if jerking once every 18 months is worth your money, while the dev is probably chilling out in his mansion and driving a lamborghini. Darkcookie pulled of a page right from the book of ICSTOR and Milfy city.

This game has been in development for almost a decade with very little to show for it. You'd expect much more for this dev timeframe. The new tech update seems to roll back much of the story while not providing much added value

This devellopers are scammers, I played the game 2 years ago and after about 2 years of development, there is abselutly nothing new... They just came back for the abandoned tag and threw that sh*tty update which has no improvement whatsoever

Did I just compare this little indie jerk off game to one of the most massive videogames of all time? You bet your ass. Because this is absurd! The even more ridiculous part is he's rebooted it. That's right, this game about a big cock twink with a dumb haircut is still an ongoing project. This much development time is only justified by a game of truly epic scope, with multiple overlapping game systems, full voice and motion capture acting, and content that should keep you occupied for hundreds of hours.

Can you imagine you look back and a full decade of your life was devoted to lazily sorta putting out a dumb game where a guy fucks his not-family and beats up some mobsters? Not throwing shade on all the pornographers, but most people in the business produce more than one thing. Because honestly, how long until he finishes the thing, if ever.

This is looking to be a Duke Nukem Forever situation. Extreme development hell because the developer keeps fucking around with the technical side of things, unable to commit. But with DNF, they were actually make a game with stuff. This is just a point and click game with some minor inventory management and rudimentary timed puzzles.

STS got big because the art is great and the characters are written pretty well. But in the 8 years since he started, the landscape has blown up with other developers. Beside the art and animation, there's very little that makes this stand out or justify the creator's outrageous practices.

Many years have passed since I became aware of this game's existance. It was the first f95 game I installed, and honestly very few projects have come close or surpassed it in sheer quality, range of characters, and unique feel to it. It became a standard for western porn games. I am aware of the current drama regarding development cycles/tech update, but frankly I don't give a crap. I have yet to give a single penny to the dev. During the years I've seen amazing projects starting left and right only to get abandoned after a couple of releases, leaving a sour taste. What SS has given me is more than enough. If we can get more releases I am good with it, and if not I am content with what I've gotten.

I remember when this game first came out. Dark Cookie has taken your money and shown the sheer unwillingness to finish a Ren'Py game after being paid millions of dollars. A visual novel is not that technically challenging to create; the hardest part is the art. You folks have made this guy millions of dollars over something you're going to jerk off to that is not finished yet and won't be as long as he knows that he can keep taking your money. I am pretty certain this game has been in development for 5 years or more now and it's sole purpose is so you can jerk off to it. It's old, it's stale, it's outdated, and now the cunt is "remaking" it so he can keep taking your cash and you're just going to let him. This is a SCAM. He took your money and you were promised a completed porn game and you've already paid him MILLIONS OF DOLLARS and you still don't have a fucking porn game.

Used to enjoy this game but, at this point, there is no way the dev hasn't done this back track for any other reason than to carry on milking people. Tbf though, this is the reason places like f95 exist. We don't trust the developers on here enough to actually pay them.

Probably one of the best games on this site it has an extensive amount of content, and as far as I am aware haven't added any content that nobody asked for. The diverse cast of characters gives many options for all the different 'Flavors'. Not to mention that I really like the art initially I didn't like the design of the main character but with time it really grew on me just an unassuming nerdy looking guy who is in fact a Gigachad and not even the meme type. If there are any things I don't like about the game its probably to minor for me to even remember let alone write about in this review.

Done waiting for this game. I'll be back in ten years to check if it's finished. Everyone else can enjoy the over 1 year wait for the same content to be released and then wait some more for updates promised years ago. Have fun and stay simping cause we know your addicted to it.

How does the best porn game in the game get a one star rating? By committing the cardinal sin of adult devs on Patreon: The Unnecessary Remake.

We've all seen it. A game with tons of content suddenly showing up in the updates page with patchnotes that say something like "Re-added the whole first day!" The confusion that sets in. "Didn't this game used to have 150 days of content? Wasn't I just about to finally get to fuck my favorite character? Didn't it seem like the main story was about to get resolved? Weren't they just about to add my favorite fetish?" The slowly growing disbelief as we realize yet another promising game has been stripped down to its skeleton to solve some backend coding problem the players couldn't care less about. The dawning realization that we're in for a few more years of "updates" before the game even comes close to being what it used to be. For those unfortunate souls that actually supported the dev, the mounting anger that the dev cares more about not losing his precious monthly income than actually delivering what his customers paid for. If you follow adult games for long enough, you'll eventually see this happen to at least one of your favorite games.

And now it's Summertime Saga's turn.

It's a shame when this happens to any game, but it's a tragedy when it happens to a game that was one of the best. Great art. Great animations. Wide variety of girls and fetishes. Fun(ish) gameplay that doesn't get in the way of the adult content. A main story that actually seemed to be wrapping up instead of being dragged out or ignored. Summertime Saga should have been a king of the genre. Instead, it's just another example of why you should only keep backing a developer if they keep delivering real updates.

The only saving grace is that F95 still has the old version available for download. So play that version if you can. It's amazing. Then when you reach the end of the content, you can join the rest of us in mourning what could have been.

Really great Game, with interesting features! Love the art, I recommend for players that are new to Ren'Py games...

I can't even count how many times I replayed this, its just so good, not the best game of all time, but it's surely in the Top 3

This is the holy grail of H-games. Variety of kinks, age groups and ethnicities in characters, a ton of story and scenes to get through, intuitive quests with a good hint system, and undeniably the best animations and art in any 2DCG H-game. Limited to no amount of dumb BS (creepy character actions, sad endings, bloated storylines). IMO, big props for no CNC, loli or bestiality.

There's a ton of discourse, especially concerning their Patreon and update scheduling. My 2 cents as a [profession redacted] is that the dev started out extremely enthusiastic and with zero experience coding large projects. Either way, not a scam imo, just mild incompetence and likely waning motivation. The sheer volume of content sets it apart from other famous Patreon H-game blunders.

This is a fun game. Well done to the point it has gotten. But it loses 3 stars for 18 months of nothing. 2 years ago the Dev said 9 months for the tech update. Over the next 6 months some "pre-tech" updates were made. I would like to see more than 1 change per 24 hour period on the Devs patreon news page. 1 change can be anything from a task completed to a simple spelling correction. It might also help if monthly progress reports were available to the public instead of patreon supporters of the game. It might help to keep the wild posts and rumors, in this thread, down to a minimum. It might also persuade others to support the game if the progress reports made sense of the long delays. The perception is that no real effort is being made on this project. The Developer really needs to do something to change this.

I have to say this is the best game I've played out of all the porn games. The best is that the characters are well drawn in 2D (which I prefer to 3D), that the story is good, the characters are good, the town is nice in the story and that it is point & click, i.e. you have stats, money and you can interact with click people and things you also have mini games. The story begins with the fact that you are an 18-year-old young man whose father died in an accident, and how, after a month-long break, you return to school and find out that you are about to fail a year. The goal of the game is to improve your grades, find out how your father was killed and find a girl for the prom. Basically, the main part of the story is finished in the alpha version (you find the father's killer), but the other details in the game are not finished. For example you can't interact with all the things yet, you can't give other things from the sex shop to Jenny for her cam show, you can't give things from the Cupid shop to any girl if she's not in the task, some characters can't be pregnant (eg Roxxy) , you cannot interact with your children who are sent to kindergarten (for me its not fulfilling), the prom is not yet incorporated into the game, Judith has almost no content and some other characters also don't have the content, some things are not coordinated well, for example Rump who laters ends up in prison, you can see him on mass or you can also see Mia's parents together at the mass, regardless of what you might have taken the nun route, there are still many things that could be added and fixed to make the game even more real. Basically it's a phenomenal game that everyone should play. For the ending of my review, I'm afraid that the game will be abandoned, considering that it has been in production for 8 years and many more things need to be added and corrected, but if it is abandoned, the game is worth every penny to play it even though it is unfinished. You will probably need about 4-5 days to read all the stories and go through all the content in it which is much more than most porn games has it. If the game will ever be finished I would gladly buy it.

Just a short review.

This game was my first introduction on AVN, I started playing this around 2017 when my friend mentioned me about it jokingly. It was a good game and it still is. The story, characters development, free roam gameplay, art style, etc are so good, but I had to give this game two stars because I dislike what DarkCookie does to this game for the past two years.

He doesn't do anything for that amount of time, the progress always stuck around 80% and if it goes up, he will put it down to 80% again for some stupid reason. This "tech update" seems unecessary, he put a poll years ago regarding to it and asked his people to vote for tech update instead of progressing the story even further. It was a mistake, big mistake.

I swear man, we'll get GTA VI or perhaps even Half Life 3 before the tech update comes out.

Oh yeah, it's 5 out of 5 game if you're new in the AVN industry. It was the pinnacle of 2D AVN out there since 2016.

Edit: I just heard about the new update. Basically DarkCookie just spent two years to reboot this game. It doesn't make any sense, this game doesn't need a reboot. What makes it worse, this new reboot just consisting three paths so if you want to play the entire reboot, it means that you need to wait for another few years. This is ridiculous, I'm gonna lower it to one star instead.

Great game of its time. Average game at the moment.

Pros:

• This is a big game with lots of characters to enjoy.

Cons:

• This game had some nice visuals at the beginning of development, but the new art style looks like shit to be honest, maybe not the art style itself more the character design.
• I don't like how the writing and the story aged. The story itself is what makes me want to give this game a 2 star rating to be honest.
• I highly doubt that this game is enjoyable or even playable without a walkthrough.
• This game features boring and very time consuming grind.
• It's not exactly the con, but I have to point out the extreme vanilla nature of the latest updates, this game is basically sterilized.
• As usual with harem games, there are too many characters; too many new characters to flesh them out and make them unique and interesting. That's true from both a design and story perspective.

Right now the development is in a milking pace, so I have no hope that this game will change for the better at any point in time, unfortunately.

Edit: This thread has been updated to v21.0.0 wip.4468. Now this game has no content at all. I have to change my rating to 1 star now, sad. The art update sucks, by the way.
