Is true more people would buy the game if there was female characters to romance, but that is purely statistical, it is like saying that in all the games normally made for heterosexual men, if they put other types of romances, there will be more people buying it (even if they lose some sales because masculine fragility makes some men not want to buy the game for having a gay or non-binary romance)
I'd say this is actually clever in theory, because there's subset of female players who are interested in BL content. So you're effectively targeting both straight women market and that subset who likes to see sexy dudes getting it on, with largely the same work.
